One story shared by a truck driver in Thrillist's collection of crazy trucker stories involves two things drivers know all too well: fatigue and finding somewhere to stop.
When you're trying to find a safe place to pull over with a rig, a simple bathroom break isn't always as simple as it sounds. Add long hours behind the wheel and serious fatigue, and a situation that starts out inconvenient can turn into a straight-up embarrassing moment.
In the story, one driver had been carrying a bottle in the cab because he couldn't find a convenient place to stop. After becoming tired and zoned out from driving, he eventually tried to throw the bottle out of the window—without realizing the window was still closed.
Let's just say the bottle didn't make it outside. 😳 The one driver came into the shower at the truck stop all angry, you could smell the pee on him.
Lesson learned: Sometimes the road gives you a funny story to tell later, but fatigue isn't something to play with. Getting a safe place to stop, taking a break, and handling business before you're pushing your limits can save you from a whole lot more than embarrassment.
